About Wong Herbert Yee: I was born in Detroit, Michigan, one of seven. My first grade teacher tacked a drawing of mine, Horse with Feedbag up on the bulletin board. From there I went on to study art at Wayne State University, graduating in 1975 with a BFA in printmaking. I had my fair share of rejections at the start, but through perserverance my first picture book, EEK! There’s a Mouse in the House was published by Houghton Mifflin in 1992. My latest early reader, Mouse and Mole Fine Feathered Friends received a 2010 Theodor Seuss Geisel Honor Award. About the Mazza Museum; Home of original artwork by the most distinguished and honored illustrators of children’s books!

It has the distinction of being the first and largest teaching gallery in the world specializing in such art. There are five teaching galleries in the museum which change annually.  All artwork has either been donated or purchased through sponsorships. The Mazza Museum is located in the V?irginia B. Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion at The University of Findlay. The Collection was established by Dr. August C. Mazza and his late wife Aleda Pfost Mazza, both graduates of The University of Findlay, as part of the University’s Centennial Celebration in the fall of 1982. From this initial donation of the Mazza’s for the first four works of art, the collection has grown to more than 8,000 original illustrations.
